While I am not a big fan of hotel dining, I have to report that one of the best breakfasts served in the Quarter is right inside the Monteleone. The service was extraordinarily good for a hotel dining room and the selections from the buffet were fabulous, including some of the richest white gravy to pour on a biscuit that I have ever had. When choosing the buffet, the customer is welcome to order eggs any style in the event that scrambled is not to one's liking. The atmosphere is quite pleasant and cheery and the buffet offers all of the things one would expect; cereal, yogurt, fruit, muffins, biscuits, bacon, sausage, etc. It is not "local" in the sense that crawfish or shrimp are served but it is so well presented that I thought it worth noting. Since it is hard to find a decent and affordable breakfast downtown, I am glad that I now have a first choice.

What did the hotel look like? I just made reservations there for next week and I have no idea what I am in for. I would really appreciate it if you would give me some information about the accomodations they offer (if you know). I have been to New Orleans twice and have only stayed at the Beineville Hotel. The rate at Montleone is $140.00 per night, so I hope it's nice. Thanks for your opinion!! Have a great evening!

p.s. I hate to ask, but is it close to "party central"?:-)
