Chicago Chowhound: Are Any Crawfish Available in November?
- Bacchus Nov 14, 2002 01:18 PM
Since visiting this site a month ago in preparation for my trip back home, you guys have helped me with a number of issues. Here's another one, can you get good crawfish in November? I know they are "out of season" but I've never really knew why. Can they not be harvested year round? If not, what's the story? I haven't been home in 2 years and really would like some if possible.
You can find them, but they'll be from China or someplace that far away. I did see LA crawfish tails in Langenstein's the other day, but I imagine they had been frozen a long time. There's so much other good stuff this time of year, especially oysters...don't ruin your memory with crawfish this time of year.
December would probably be a better month for boiled crawfish, although the crawfish dishes like etoufee and crawfish bisque are year round items.
