I am much obliged to you, Hazel. Give us a honk on the
Florida board if you ever head over this way. But first, stop by Abe's in Lake Charles and load us up a
coolerful. We'll make it worth your while!

Will do...lemme know how you like the stuff--I have several other sources (varying amounts of liver flavor in them, less rice/more rice etc.) but TBS is always excellent.

I like it any way I can get it, Hoss. The only kind I
ever had is made by Mme. Fruge (my friend's mother) of
Lake Charles. Every time her daughter would have a baby
Madame would load the car with Acadian delicacies and
head for Okeechobee. After five kids, Marquetha is out
of the baby business. So...no boudin for quite a while.
Not having been to Louisiana myself, (except on I-10) I
never knew you could buy it in the store until I read
that article by Calvin Trillin. Now THAT guy knows what's good.

My wife is from Lake Charles. I've bought lots of boudin (boo-dan) from Abe's. It's good. He has boudin made with crawfish tail meat now. good-good.
Just east of Lake Charles at the Iowa exit there is a little store on the so. side of I-10 that sells boudin balls. They have some kind of light cheese (just guessing) coating to keep the rice from separating.
Can't remember the name. They are great though.2 or 3 makes a great driving snack. Eat it like an apple

Try their andouille--it is THE best. If you are on I-10, the place is about 45 seconds off the road.
