breakfast in French Quarter

N.O. Newbie Feb 6, 2002 02:29 PM

Where are the best places to eat breakfast in the French Quarter (besides Brennan's and Cafe du Monde)? I'm looking for something not outrageously expensive and I'm not a big fan of eggs. Thanks!

Try the Coffee Pot. Not expensive but has a great menu.

Tally-Ho is terrific -- they have some cajun specialities -- like boudin -- on the breakfast menu

Petunia's does a very nice breakfast. Less expensive than Brennan's, more expensive than Croissant d'Or. Choices include large waffles with fresh fruit, and they serve bloody marys and other cocktails.

one of my favorites is the Clover Grill on Bourbon,it is open around the clock, has good waffles and great people watching. I also liked Le Paniche in the Marigny, also a 24 hour place exept for Tuesday, when they are closed all day.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Clover Grill vs. Poppy's Grill?

                Hi Chowhounds,
Poppy's is a great place for a booze mop at 4am. The Clover Grill is great for breakfast and a show.

We ate at the Clover Grill when visiting in Nov. and it was awesome. The waiter's a riot, the food's cheap and good. Altho I can only comment on eggs and hash browns, a side I love but can never get up here in Boston.

Hey Boston - There is a place next to what used to be the last stop on the orange line in Jamaica plain I believe it is called DOYLES that has the BEST HASH that I have ever tasted in my life. It was home made fresh. Amazing!
