Hey there -

I visit New Orleans every March/April, and have always had a great time at Lucky Cheng's. A friend told me that she heard Gennifer Flower's new club opened up in that spot. I've scoured the web for any such news, and haven't found anything. Does anyone know if this is true? I was so looking forward to bringing my friends there on my trip this April!

Yes, it is true, Lucky Changs has closed and Genifer Flowers has opened up a Cabaret there. The bar part is already opened, and the restaurant part will open within the next two weeks.

We used to bring out-of-towners there, it was a fun place, food not all that great, but the side show was a hoot.

I went to Lucky Cheng's a few years ago, I never made it as far as to even have dinner or drinks. It was explained that we had already missed the seating for dinner (with an attitude..)our next idea to have drinks, hang out and people watch was abandoned because of more disdainful attitudes by the waitresses..
If you want an interesting place to have breakfast or a very late Burger, go to the Clover Grill.
It is a greasy spoon type place, located on Bourbon and Dauphine, right next to a number of gay clubs. It is great for people watching and bantering with everyone around.
Contrary to Lucky Cheng's the attitudes are usually good..

I have included a link on Gennier Flowers opening a nightclub. As to if it occupied the former Lucky Cheng's, I don't know.
