Where should I go for Bananas Foster and Cafe Brulot?

Hi. I'm going to be in New Orleans with some friends, for a conference at the end of November, and have been lurking on the NO site for a while (I'm from Los Angeles). We would like to go somewhere for Dessert, to have Bananas Foster, and a Cafe Brulot. I have been to Commanders Palace, where the Cafe Brulot "show" was spectacular, and was thinking about returning. But then I though, well maybe Brennans?

Where would you NO Chowhounds suggest? I'm definatly open to other options as well. Thank you in advance!

Debra

Two places I would recommend are Arnaud's, especially for the Cafe Brulot and certainly, Brennen's for the Bananas Foster since that's where it was invented in 1951 and named after Richard Foster, a civic leader and owner of the Foster Awning Company (supplier of the awning covering the entrance on Royal St.
While in NO, don't forget to try Gabrielle's. It's really terrific. More French Bistro than Creole but a refreshing change from the Big Guys. Try the sweetbreads and duck. Warning, signature garlic soup is really, really garlicy.

I like the cafe brulot at Galatoires--and a lot of other stuff, too.

I screwed up. I meant to mention Bayona, not Gabrielle's (which is excellent also). Sorry for the confusion.

The only cafe brulot I've had was the cafe brulot diabolique at Antoine's. Very tasty, and I'm not even a coffee drinker. If you end up there for dessert, see if you can get the Last Room and go for the baked alaska.

          Blue skies,
          Catherine
