Got back from NOLA a week and a half ago and have to say the best meal I had was at Fiorellies (Spelling?)across from the French Market. Shrimp Poor boy & an order of fries split 2 ways.Total price $9.50 including tax. That was our meal for the whole day as it was huge and just as good as my visit 9 years ago.I have had many a dream about thoes shrimp poor boys as they are not to be found here on the west coast.Never made it to Uglishi's so I was just wondering if I really missed out by not going there or if the sandwhiches at this funky little spot even come close to the place everyone raves about on this page ? We ate lunch at the Royal Cafe(we had a buy one get one free coupon to intise us in) and my friend had the Pasta Jambalaya - which was very good but I had the Shrimp and Crab etouffe which was not anything to write home about (tomato - rice soup basicly). Since it was only half price I wasnt to disappointed but if I had paid the full amout I probably would have been unhappy. Then one day we tried Mr.B's - this time I had the Pasta Jambalaya which was no where near as good as the Royal Cafe and my friend had an appetiser of the Catfish fingers which she loved.Strike 2 for me. We also ate at a place called Feelings and had just appetisers as it was late the day we arrived. We shared The crab cakes(3-not very good and very very small about the size of a silver dollar )BBQ Srimp(4-again not very good and mushy in texture). Then Shrimp En Brochette(3- tiny tiny & we both commented that these were simalar to what we eat in Mexico but no where near as good ) .We did however have 1 of the best Martini's either of us have ever had. Total price of this snack and beverage for 2 was about $37.00 with tip.Way to much $$$$ for what was served. All in all we never seemed to eat as much food as we wanted and were faily disappointed in our choices but were looking for the homestyle/diner type food rather than the dress up kind of places and didnt find anything to fit that bill. Money wasnt really an issue it was finding a casual comfort level that kept us out of a few of the places recommended here for good eats and since we were staying a little ways out of the Quater we usually stayed out checking things out all day & evening and were not dressed to go to the fancier places.A good time was had !Love that city. Oh yeah- split a Club Sandwich at The Clover Grill in the wee hours of the morning just like we did 9 years ago and by golly it was just as good and just as fun !!!
