Xmas in New Orleans

I'm off to New Orleans for my 4th time in the last 3 years and have found great info on this website. I am having trouble finding restaurants that are open Xmas eve or Xmas day. I am assuming Commanders Palace will be open, but I would prefer a different place.
Also, this is the first time that I will have a car, so I could drive outside of the quarter and try some new places. Thank you
Christmas Day - pack a lunch. You won't find even a McDonald's or Popeye's open.
On the brighter side, there are several restaurants that have Revellion (sp?) dinners on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. These are fixed menus. Last year the airlines lost our friend's luggage and he, of course, was dressed in traveling clothes. The reservation we had was for a dressier place but after checking out several other possibilities that went nowhere, I called and explained our predicament. They graciously said, "come on anyway". Cuvee was the restaurant and the food was marvelous - pricey but wonderful.
You will find some open on Christmas Eve but none on Christmas Day except the Revellion dinners. My suggestion is to go to insideneworleans.com to see if they list the participating restaurants for this year.
Many of the restaurants have a website and will post their menu - later on closer to Christmas.
Have a great time.
A few years ago I had Christmas dinner at the Bistro at Maison de Ville (504) 528-9206, which was splendid. It is a tiny restaurant servicing an upscale hotel in the Quarter. The chef Greg Piccolo is well regarded as is the maitre d' Patrick Hornbeek. Duck dishes are always good. Early reservations are necessary. They may be the best restaurant open on Christmas Day.
