Who has the best Fried Green Tomatoes in N.O.?

Try Liuzza's (the one in Mid City near Bienville and Carrolton, not the one by the Fair Grounds, although that place also has great food, especially its garlic oyster po-boy, how's that for a run-on sentence?). As is common in New Orleans, the fried green tomatoes are topped with a shrimp remoulade. The tangyness of the remoulade and the flavor of the shrimp contrast well with the heat and crunch of the tomatoes. Just be careful not to burn your mouth.

I also love the frenchaletta at Liuzza's. It's their take on a muffaletta, which is basically an Italian hero on a special round bun topped with olive salad. But unlike a muffaletta, which is usually served cold, the frenchaletta is served hot, so the cheese is melted. Also, it's served on a long french loaf, hence, I believe, the name. I think one key to a good muffaletta/frenchaletta is the olive salad, and Liuzza's has an addictive olive salad.

I must agree that the best F.G.T.'s are at Ugelish's. At least the best I've found on my tours of NOLA

The average person would say: Uglesich's.

      I'm average.
