Has anyone been to Two Sisters Kitchen??
I've been there and it's good. It is very small and you may have to wait for a table if you're there at prime lunch time, but service is fast so you won't have to wait long. Soul food is actually hard to find in New Orleans because many of the places that are often recommended for "soul food" actually offer the same po-boys, fried shrimp and gumbo as every other restaurant. Two Sisters is the real thing, with greens, cornbread, beans, fried chicken, oxtail, smothered pork chop, etc. etc. They may be open only at lunchtime.
I have come to believe that very few non-Black New Orleanians know where to find real soul food because they don't go into the primarily Black neighborhoods. I am not Black, but I have not found Two Sisters to be at all intimidating.
re: Sarah C
2 sisters is the real deal. there are 2 of them though, and no i'm not talking aboutthe court of... the one is right off claiborne near the cbd, but plenty of white folk go there including me. the "ambience" is just so good that every white person to set foot in there can leave feeling like the first. anyway the other 2 sisters is on st. claude, havent been there yet.
