Just got back from a brief 3 day stint in N.O.L.A.

Kelsey's (uptown on Magazine) - always a good meal. The apps rule here - oyster brie pie, shrimp curry and eggplant are my faves. The duck w/ jalapeno and whatever fish of the day are always great too.

Mother's - stopped in for a quick bowl of jambalaya at 3:30 on Saturday - the place was still packed! (although only about a 5 min wait). Delicious as usual

Peristyle- The post-fire renovations look great - beautiful job. This is a very special place, certainly cooking at a higher level than most restaurants in N.O. A fun restaurant, but not too loud. You must call WAY in advance to get a reservation here, BUT, you can sit at one of the bar tables and get full service! Foie gras over grits was tasty, my friends filet was very good as was my duck. My only complaint was that my duck was a little luke-warm and the sauce surrounding it had a slight film on it (sat too long in the kitchen).

Pelican Club - Downhill Alert! All main dishes were tasteless and all had the same sides with them! This used to be a good place.

Cuvee- Looks beautiful, with a great bar. Didn't get a chance to eat there, but I'll be back in January...

BTW- Walked through the new Ritz Carlton. The neighborhood isn't stellar, but the renovations to the old Bon Marche building are gorgeous. Windsor Court might have some competition finally.
