Convention Center area St. Louis
I am going to be attending a convention in St. Louis in June. We are staying downtown and don't have a car. I have read the other St. Louis posts, but am looking for good, inexpensive food within walking distance of the Roberts Mayfair Hotel.

You are lucky in that there are a lot more places to eat downtown within the last couple of years. The Washington Avenue Loft District has brought a lot of people and restaurants to the area.
Some inexpensive places would be Sen Thai Bistro (1221 Locust), Tanner B's (great appetizers - 1113 Pine), and Wasabi (sushi and bento lunches - 1228 Washington), 400 Olive ("urban grill" whatever that is - 400 Olive). Stop by Gelateria for some great ice cream, plus coffee and sandwiches (1327 Washington).
I would also recommend The Tap Room and Everest but they are probably a bit further walk than you are looking for.
Some slightly higher-priced places to try - Red Moon (15th and St. Charles), Mosaic, Anthony's Bar (10 Broadway), or Lucas Place Grill (probably better for people watching).

The dining room at the Mayfair is pretty nice for lunch; I have not had dinner there, but they have some theme evenings.
I really like Tanner B's downtown. If you want to feel like you are eating in someone's kitchen, try Cummel's Cafe somewhere around 16th and Washington. For upscale, you can't get much more upscale than An American Place in the Rennaissance Hotel.
There is a St. Louis Bread Company in the City Museum; you would be well advised to visit the Museum, a St. Louis institution. At least go there for drinks; it closes at 1:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
