Good Bread in Ohio

  • b

Hello all,
I just wanted to spread the word about a bakery I recently discovered while going thru Cincinnati, Ohio. It's called GTC Bakehouse. I have never had such amazingly good bread. Hard crust, chewy and flavorful insides. Traditional artisan bread that takes two days to complete. It's a small place with a knowledgeable and friendly staff that answered all of my 500 questions. I would recommend their baguettes and epitards. Actually I'd reccommend all of it. The sourdough tastes like a sourdough you'd get out in the bay area, and the salted rye was out of this world.
This is there phone number 513-984-9333 and I would call to get the hours and find out what the specialty breads of the day are. (I would post them, but I don't remember them now).
anyway, I travel thru the area often and am so excited to have found such a gem. If anyone is familiar with Zingerman's bakehouse in Michigan, this bread is definately on par, if not better.

  1. Do you think this is a chain that may be coming to other areas soon or is it that rarity today, an individually owned enterprise?

It is an individually owned location with oddball hours, and it is quite good.

    2. Where is it? In Findley Market?

Sorry - guess I could do a little more looking before I ask.

Apparently it is on Montgomery Road in Montgomery and operated by a local food service company.
