Our 5 yr. old son discovered crêpes last week at Art-a-Whirl and wanted some for breakfast this weekend. We went to the Copper Dome on Randolph in St. Paul yesterday and were not impressed by the crêpes (or any of the other food, for that matter). So now we're looking for another option.

Does anyone have any suggestions for another kid-friendly place where we could go? We live in the Uptown area and have been to Cafe Barbette, but they only have savory crêpes in flavors that our son won't eat. We'd prefer Minneapolis locations, but are open to close western suburbs or St. Paul.

Thanks in advance.

I remember that review also. I followed up on that place and I think it's gone now.

Moscow on the Hill on Selby in St. Paul once had the Crepes Rooms next door, which was out of this world. It closed down, but I think they serve the same crepes (both sweet and savory) at Moscow on the Hill now. I would call.

They were truly delicious.

Well, the Sunday brunch at the Nicollet Island Inn includes a chef station where they prepare crepes. When I've been there, it was crepes with fresh raspberry sauce. Of course, that's a lot of money to spend to get your kid a crepe.

How about the Magic Pan stand at the Mall of America? I'm not sure if they're open for breakfast, specifically, but you could go for a late brunch.

You might give French Meadow a call. They may make crepes.

You could also make crepes with your son. The recipe is easy - 3 eggs, 2 cups whole milk, 1 cup flour. Pick up some fresh fruit at the farmer's market, and enjoy. Best with fresh whipped cream or powdered sugar as well.

Best crepes in the world are street crepes in France. Nutella and banana is my favorite (yes, that's one crepe, with nutella and banana in it. Mmmmmm.

OH! The best breakfast crepes (and dutch babies to die for) are at the Orginal Pancake House. Your son is in for a treat, but be prepared, the waiting list is long on the weekends.
