I'm going to be staying at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton next week and will not have a car and I don't really know St. Louis at all. Any recommendations for great food within walking distance? Also, I will be going to the Fox Theatre one night -- any recommendations for restaurants in that area.

Within walking distance of the Ritz I would recommend Pomme, Barcelona, and I Fratellini (although I suggest skipping I Fratellini's pastas). Pomme and I Fratellini have been reviewed previously on this site. Barcelona is a small tapas bar that gets very crowded on weekend nights, but has very good tapas. I've posted a link to a review.

Enjoy.

I second the recommendations for Pomme and Barcelona. Pomme is a more subdued, classier experience, but Barcelona can be a lot of fun; it's, in large part, a young partying crowd, but the tapas are good. I'll try to link to my Pomme review. As for the Fox Theater, there really is a dearth of restaurants nearby. The one pretty good at which we always make a reservation before a Fox show is The Bistro at Grand Center. It's right across the street and most of the food is pretty good. You'll need a reservation to get in and out before your show.

I've always enjoyed Cafe Napoli. Solid, reasonably priced italian food in a comfortable setting. They serve an excellent veal chop. Unless you're coming from a place like NY or NJ you'll probably be impressed.

If you like sushi, you are in luck. The Ritz serves sushi in its lobby - it is low-priced to get you to have a few martinis to go along with it.
Nearby is Miso On Merramec, which also has sushi, some of the best in town. Be sure to eat downstairs at Miso and not at street level.
