Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese?

The Social in Milwaukee

mary Mar 23, 2001 07:51 PM

Just ate at "The Social" 434 S 2nd St in Milwaukee last night. It looks like a dive on the outside but I was pleasantly suprised by the very hip deco decor. The food was fab- mussels in cream sauce for appetizer and then my date and I split a warm duck salad and "mac and cheese" which consisted of mac with goat cheese and chicken. The warm chocolate cake with raspberry sauce topped off the meal. I left full but not stuffed. The wait staff was great too.

Glad to hear the good review. I checked out South Second Street because I heard there was good jazz at a place called Caroline's. The night I went the jazz there was tepid but it was cooking at the Social.

It was late and I had already eaten but they had a special on raw oysters at 50 cents each. I asked for six but they were out. As the future governor of California (gawd forbid) once said, "I'll be back!"
