following your recommendation here, we dined at La Belle Vie last night (or more precisely, she took me there for a birthday dinner). A tasting menu where none of the dishes was from the regular menu started with a superb dish of seared scallops served with saffron tomato salsa and cardamom yogurt sauce, went on to a truffle flooded veal carpaccio with duck confit and frisee, seared foie gras, a breast of mullard duck on mushroom risotto and a chocolate fondant cake with chocolate sorbet and creme anglaise. The dishes were all wonderfully matched with glasses of wine (the staff got some education from the sommelier that evening by drinking the rest of the wine as each bottle was opened :-) ). Service was attentive, prices were astonishingly low (I think a dinner like this one would cost about $600 in nyc), we'll go back there often, despite the drive...
