BBQ from 17th St. Bar & Grill
Has anyone had the ribs from the 17th St. B&G in
Murphysboro,IL? I have read raves from Jeff
Steingarten from "The Man Who Ate Everything", and I
was considering having them shipped in for my
husbands' pending birthday. He LOVES any BBQ except
bad BBQ and I prefer Southern style...really vinegary,
but it's HIS birthday. Anyway, would they be special
and worthwhile enough to ship into Cleveland? We have
slim pickin's here and I don't want to smoke them
myself in our unpredictable winter climate. Waah, poor
me, I'll wait for summer. I'd love some feedback.
I am the manager for 17th St. Bar & Grill in
Murphysboro IL. Now I'm not going to toot our own horn
too much however, I will give you some details about
the preparation. Only the finest baby back ribs,
seasoned with our own dry rub, then slow smoked over
apple wood for 6 hrs lightly sauced then dusted once
more with our dry rub. They will absolutely fall apart
in your hands. The decision is all yours.
Alas, I can't give you feedback, just empathy: I just
read "Man Who Ate Everything" too, and I was wondering
whether to send my stepfather over to IL (from Indiana)
or have some shipped to him, as he loves BBQ, too.
Can't tell if you got any good responses--I'm not
having much luck tracking down info yet, but I'll check
back! Looks like Murphysboro has a festival in
September (did in 1998, anyway).
