Looking for an OLD FASHIONED bakey with great birthday cakes now that Frisbee's is gone in Tacoma. What's Henry's Bakery in Proctor District? And does anyone know about this Puyallup bakery? HELP please.
KittyKatzu, I'm really sorry about your experience! It's weird because every time I've used the Pioneer Bakery in Puyallup for cakes, I've had nothing but great results. I ordered a Red Velvet cake, too, for my stepdad when he got a promotion at work, and it was delicious! Red Velvet is a milk chocolate cake, it's supposed to be between a rich brown and a dark red color-- it was moist, and fabulous. The icing I got was home-made, and wonderful.
I've also ordered a vanilla cake with cherry filling (big hit!) and a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (fantastic!).
The staff were helpful and positive.
I recently had an awful experience with this bakery. We ordered a red velvet cake with buttercream frosting for a very special family occasion. The cake was crooked! Yes, crooked, one side was not more than 1" thick and the other end was about 1/2" thick. The cake was not red velvet but brown and the frosting tasted like crisco and sugar. It was gritty and disgusting. Not to mention that the cake had little flavor and was extrememly dry. When I went in to speak with the manager/owner she was very unfriendly and rude. She never apologized. This lady handed me my money and walked away. I will never use them again!!!
