sarah here from the la la land msgboard...just wanted to drop in because i got back from my first trip back to chicago in a long while, and had some GREAT meals, one of which was at frontera grill. i'm sure you don't need me to tell you how awesome it is, but i will anyway. LOL! it was awesome!

the margaritas were a little small, so i thought, but they definitely weren't weak.

the guacamole is quite possibly the best guacamole i've had ever (except for homemade, of course). i'm not sure what it was, perhaps the little red things that i thought were sun-dried tomatoes, but maybe they were roasted peppers. i could have eaten the whole bowl by myself, but you know, manners and all.

we also the sopa de papa, trio of ceviches, pollo en adobo, scallops, and the best dish of the night - tacos al pastor. yah yah, even with all the "fancier" dishes, the best one was a plate of tacos! LOL! but really, they were good, and i looooved the black beans. i have some pictures, but they're a little hazy :)

anyway, just wanted to share my enthusiasm for frontera! can't wait to go back to chicago!

It's great that you loved one of our favorite places! Next time you're in town, you might consider their sister restaurant, Topolobampo, which shares the space with Frontera (they take reservations for two, which is a plus). Topo is "haute-Mexican," and while more expensive than Frontera, it's worth it. Their Sopa Azteca is delicious, and they give you a small bowl of that great guacamole gratis.
