Sushi in Naperville?

Are there any really good sushi places in or near Naperville? I've searched the board and didn't see any...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

  1. Sushi House is pretty good, but not great. There also is a place called Yamado on Ogden Avenue (west of Naper Blvd.) that I think is pretty good, although I haven't been there in a while. These places are okay for the suburbs, but not comparable to downtown sushi (i.e., Kamahachi, etc.).

Not a fancy place, but Spring Garden on North Aurora/59 (near the route 59 metra station) has good quality fish and a small selection of rolls. Not a ton of variety, but the stuff they do is very good and fresh. Owner takes special pride in getting very high quality fish.

    2. Try Jurin in Geneva. The chefs are Japanese and they make very good sushi and sashimi. Unlike Sushi House, they use top flight rice to make the nigiri and they don't squeeze the nigiri hard to satisfy customers prone to dunking their food in soy sauce. Jurin also has a conveyor belt restaurant. At both places the chefs will go along with you as you torture them with your broken Japanese conversation. At Sushi House, you'll need to hone your Spanish. Another place in downtown Naperville, Moshi Moshi, is Korean and has bizarre presentation. you might get cubes of tuna when you order sashimi, or flakes of octopus when you order taco, or shredded squid topped with fish roe when you are expecting squid sashimi. It is worthless in my book but not as bad as the totally Westernized Sushi House.

        1. Try Sushi House in downtown Naperville. Really wonderful food, gracious decor...a real treat.
