I see 8? restaurants in Madrona (on 34th) and they are all half full, if that. What happened to our little dining row? Is it the economy? Does the product or service there suck now? Where should we go now?

I've been waiting impatiently for Villa Victoria to open again - how I miss those wonderful burritos! We still miss Cool Hand Luke's & Plenty, though I've had a good meal at St. Cloud's. Never been that impressed with Madrona Alehouse. Hi Spot is still mobbed for breakfast on weekends. Some new places should be opening soon in the new retail/apartment complex at 34th & Marion. Maybe that will draw more folks to the neighborhood to eat!

How long is Villa Victoria going to be closed? Great place - we drive over from West Seattle and always end up getting enough food for four or five meals!

They have been closed for vacation for about a month, but a note on the window says they'll reopen "mid July." Hopefully it will be any day now. I heard that Naomi Andrade Smith is traveling & finding new recipes in Mexico.

Not in Madrona often, but noticed Supreme tucked away there the other day. Haven't seen anything about it here.
Anyone have any opinions? Couldn't get a good feel from the stuff I found in the Weekly, Times, etc.

I've been to Supreme three maybe four times since they opened 2 years ago...

The food is hit and miss, and the decor dosen't convey the right feeling. It's a bit like mixing polkadots with plaid.

The wine list is reasonable, and pretty good, so is the dessert. The house salad is not the taste sensation I was looking for, but hey, there's something for everyone.

With regards to the service, be prepared for yuppies, empty-nesters, and art school drop outs. Poured concerete apparently is a crowd pleaser.

Couldn't disagree more. Just got back from Supreme, and every course taught me something. (No pun intended). We started with the deep fried artichoke hearts, which were spectacular. I've never had fresh ones fried before, they were incredibly sweet. The arugula salad was delicious, with grilled onions, orange slices, and one of my favorite cheeses (I think it is called Bouchon?). I particularly appreciated that the artichokes were served as a separate course from the salad, so we could enjoy each of them individualy. My entree was the stuffed squash blossoms, and I finally understand them. Elsewhere I've had these sad little flowers with no flavor. These were gorgeous, about 2.5 inches with long stems attached, which had somewhat of an artichoke flavor. For dessert we had orange ice cream profiteroles. About the only slight miss in the whole evening was a slightly long wait for the dessert. Overall I thought this place was top notch, with many clearly defined, well combined flavors.

Now if only Villa Victoria would come back!
