I will be in Chicago for two days next weekend. I have scoured these boards, but, as often is the case when planning a chow tour, I am paralyzed by indecision. I want bites of food that are going to stun me with their excellence. I want food that I will have a hard time finding in Boston and Washington, D.C..

For one, I am going to do a quick hot dog / Italain Beef tour. Three stops, I think, unless you all persuade me otherwise:

Hot Dougs
Superdawg
Johnnie's

Also, late night I imagine we'll wind up at Wiener's Circle.

I am a beer geek, so will be putting in some hours at The Map Room, too.

But, I am in need of more chow options. Most importantly, the Friday night I arrive. That will probably be the on meal that we have as a single sit-down meal. So, it is allowed to be nicer, but does not have to be. Where MUST I go? Polish? Latin?

On a brief previous trip to Chicago, all I had time for was Frontera Grill, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Update!

We may be at Rosa's Lounge on Friday night. Proximity to Rosa's is a plus, but not required. is that a good area for Mexican, perhaps?

Sorry I don't have time to give you the details, but look for posts re Ixcapuzalco and Taqueria La Oaxaquena, both not too, too far from Rosa's and both worth checking out for Mexican. Taq. Oax. is a fairly humble place, the other is somewhere between that and Topo. You can't go wrong with either.

Also look for info on LTHForum.com, which is down for maintenance this am but will be up shortly.
