Two or three kinds of fried fish, fried chicken, two types of coleslaw, hot german potato salad, baked beans....YUM! I think it's about $8 per person. They get really busy during Lent and are always hopping in the summer. You won't go hungry here!

Went to the American Legion's Fish Fry tonight. It was all that Dee mentioned and a little more. The three types of fish were good, as was the chicken, but she did not mention the hush puppies. They were gooood.
But I think the real reason to go, is more for the fellowship. You have a small town atmosphere, with a 50's decor. Communial tables encourage conversation, and I must have spoken to 10 people.
Two things, do not miss going downstairs to the bar area, and be sure to get driving instructions before you go.
They seem to have constant raffles, and I won 10 pounds of pork chops.

Mmmmmm....hush puppies.....forgot about them! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think it's one of the best places to get fish fry. Their chicken is just perfect!
I've been going to the fish fry for about 13 years. My favorite part is the people and the decor. The people are just wonderful. The decor you saw is actually a recent update. Upstairs used to have carpeting on the east wall. It was 40's all the way!

Try Mack's Golden Pheasant. Real cool Wisconsin
type room, ask for beer battered, they say it's
sole, I wouldn't know but it's better than the
cod I've had elsewhere. They have a website.

It's more Northwest than far west. But, I tried Eddie's in downtown Arlington Heights this past week for a very solid fish fry. It was pretty good. All you can eat fish fry with southern style (mustard/mayo based cole slaw), fries and cole slaw for $7.50 a head.
The fish is breaded rather than battered. And it's perch rather than cod or haddock.
