Does anyone here remember the name of the candy shop/soda fountain once in the N. Clark Street space now occupied by Mia Francesca? Pete, its owner, closed the place in the late 70's or early 80's. Thanks.

I think it was called "Ideal Candy". Soda Fountain & Candy Store.

I can confirm that it was Ideal Candy. They made some of the best hand-dipped chocolates in Chicago.

It was Ideal Candies. Pete Vasilikos the owner, son of the original owner, Nick Vasilikos, closed this wonder ice cream parlor and home made candy store in 1987 after almost 50 years of operation, following his triple by-pass surgery. R.I.P Ideal Candies

FYI, there is a great website for such questions if ever you don't get a response on CH. Go to "Forgotten Chicago"---post on message forum---somebody invariably remembers what you're asking about.
