Whole Foods often displays fresh mozzarella along side on-the-vine tomatoes in its produce section. I bought it for the frist time last week, assembled a Caprese salad, and was not disappointed.

I would recommend a good Italian Deli/Grocery Store versus the large chains. Some that have have been mentioned here before are:

Tony's Italian Foods - NW Highway & Olyphant St.
Bari Foods - 1120 W. Grand
Riviera Foods -3220 W. Belmont
Alpine Foods - 7538 W. North Ave.
DeAndreas Italian Market - Cermak Road & Harlem Ave.

Ah, the Caprese salad, one of the many simple pleasures in life!:)

Definitely avoid the large chains...especially the ones with a big selection, high quality, fast turnover, and low prices.
