I was just there yesterday. With gas prices so high, it's expensive to drive the timemobile, but it was worth it.

Sally's Stage was opened in the mid 70's by Mike & Joe Bortz. They had a number of Ice Cream Parlors. Their specialty @ Sally's Stage was ice cream drinks, I know I was their service bartender, all I made were ice cream drinks. The ceiling was a collage of pinball games, the waitress wore roller skates. It was across the street from the (uptown theatre?) next door, south was a city parking lot, where employees could park for free. Max was the kitchen manager, the pipe organ coming up on the stage was really cool

It wasn't the Uptown Theatre. The Uptown is on the west side of Broadway just north of Lawrence, and is still there. Sally's Stage was on the east side of Western just south of Devon, two miles north of the Uptown.

I remember going there in the 70s/early 80s before we moved away from Chicagoland...fun stuff!

It's now a parking lot for a bank. Probably been closed nearly 15-18 yrs.

Was this the place with a huge pipe organ and a mechanical bull? I think that my parents took me there so I could go on the mechanical bull (20+ years ago). I haven't heard this place mentioned in years.

Sally's Stage was located on the East side of Western Avenue about a half block south of Devon. I drove by there yesterday. I don't believe it's a parking lot. I believe the site of Sally's Stage and possibly the same building has been converted with a Middle Eastern facade and is now an Indian or Middle Eastern restaurant.
