<content>Since ZouZou has closed, I need a quick place to eat near Schuba's, 3159 N. Southport. Slice of pizza, Mexican, deli... Thanks. </content>

<content>The Flat Top Grill at the corner of Belmont and Southport is OK and inexpensive. If you don't like your food, you can blame yourself. </content>

<content>I've never had any trouble with their own restaurant, the Harmony Grill, and will venture so far as to say I like the fried chicken there, although it's been a bit more than a year since I last had it.

If a block north or south near Ashland isn't too far, Art of Pizza's a bit south and Wishbone's a bit north.

I haven't eaten at either of the Mexican places on Belmont within a block or two of the restaurant recently enough to have a useful opinion, but mention them here in hopes of prodding someone else's memory.

There may also be some spots along Belmont in the other direction -- the last time I was at Homemade Pizza, they had seating, so perhaps they can be coaxed into serving a hot pizza.

<content>I had this idea that they had actually closed that Homemade Pizza, but I could be wrong.

There's a middle eastern sort of place on the north side of Belmont that got some nice press when it opened. Can't remember any more than that. There's also a middle eastern place on the south side of Belmont, that's adequate but no more than that.

I've had edible food at Pizza Capri, at Sheffield. But the menu is quite hit-or-miss.

There's a couple of different Thai-ish noodle places. (Some more Thai, some more global.) along Belmont and they can do decent stir fry sorts of things quickly.

Standard India doesn't approach the standards of Devon Ave., but if you get the buffet, and just keep an eye on which dishes are being refilled and rush at those, it can be pretty good and a great bargain as well. (Not all that close to Schuba's, but not that far either.)

But, you're best bet might be Harmony for decent American standards. (Though they're not always that fast.)

<content>Re the two Mexican places on Belmont: one is just east of Southport, it's called El Pacifico and should be avoided at all costs -- incredibly poor chow, flavorless. The other Mexican place just west of Southport on Belmont is called I think El Milagro or something like that. I've never been in there, as I go by on the bus it looks like not much more than a taco place but I could be wrong.

My recommendation for something in that area would be Schoolyard Tavern &amp; Grill, 3258 N. Southport. Fresh, flavorable &amp; somewhat imaginative pub grub.

ZouZou has been re-opened for several months now, under different management. I was there once under the previous management and it was very good. I'm not sure how late it stays open, better call: 773-935-0979.

Homemade Pizza is no longer on Belmont, they relocated to Southport just north of Roscoe, near the Brown Line el stop earlier this year.

FYI, the tariff for Flat Top Grill (3200 N. Southport)these days is $8 for adult lunch and $13 for adult dinner.

Here's a new place that just opened up: Joey's Brickhouse, 1258 W. Belmont Avenue, 773-296-1300. The Reader describes it as "Former personal chef Joel Morelli opened this contemporary American in May '04 with a heavy emphasis on home cooking."</content>

<content>Bittersweet, although known for, well, sweets, I think also serves a decent soup/sandwich.

<content>Yeah, I agree with the Coobah recommendation. This place is fun and vibrant and has pretty good food.
Mistic Celt on Southport is a great Irish Pub with pretty decent food.
Mia Francesca's on Clark Street for decent Italian food is a short walk from Schuba's.
Andalous Morocan also on Clark Street.
Platiyo on Clark Street for great Margaritas and competent Mexican Food.</content>

<content>Ate at the mexican restaurant across the street from Shubas. The name escapes me but they have a sign proclaiming the best enchiladas? or something like that. It should be avoided. Food dissapointed.</content>
