Coming into Rockford, IL for work later this week and want to take a few people out for dinner, but want to hit a place that is a good chowhound spot.

Any kind of cuisine.

MANY thanks,

  1. Try Josef's. It is on the East side off of Perryville Rd, north of State.

    1. Swedish:
      Stockholm Inn (2420 Charles St)

      Gyros (take out only)
      Uncle Nick's (214 N. 5th Street)

      German (great beer, too)
      Der Rathskeller (1132 Auburn St)

      Japanese (good sushi)
JMK Nippon (2551 N Perryville Rd)

      Mexican:
      Burrito Loco (2430 Auburn St)

      Italian:
      Maria's (828 Cunningham St)
      Lino's (5611 E State St)

      Mideastern:
      Sahara Palace (5621 Wansford Way)

I don't know that I'd recommend El Burrito Loco to someone as Rockford's top-notch Mexican. It's good at 2 in the morning, but it's not exactly great. El Molcajete in Belvidere, Los Portales near State and 3rd and many of the places in the South Main area are better.

I'd recommend 5 Forks and Cru before anything else, I think.

      2. There are lots of recommendations in the extensive recent discussion at www.chowhound.com/topics/482165
