Looking for a good place for tonight to take wife for sushi in or near Schaumburg. Something not in a strip mall.

  1. I like Sakura located, sorry in a strip mall, on the southwest corner of the Rt53/ Algonquin Rd. intersection.

Try Sushi Station in Arlington Heights. It's a conveyer belt sushi place with really nicely prepared sushi that's quite tasty. Not too expensive either.

no no no. if you like tired sushi prepared beforehand, this may interest you.

I second the recommendation for Sakura. They also have another location in Des Plaines which is equally good or better just south of the Central Bakery.

I would recommend the first two. All unfortunately are in strip malls. To ask for a non-strip mall restaurant in Schaumburg is like asking for a restaurant not on a street in Chicago.

        1. Wild Fish in downtown Arlington Heights (15 minutes from Schaumburg) is a great place. It is definitely on the pricey side, but the presentation is fabulous and the fish is also very fresh. It is still in a strip mall, but a more upscale or classy strip mall (if that's possible)!

I'll second Wildfish. Very good quality (in a you-get-what-you-pay-for context).

          2. No one has brought up Bowl House. It used to be on Algonquin and Arlington Heights Road, but now it is on Algonquin and Wilke. It's actually in Rolling Meadows, but so close to Schaumburg. I think Bowl House is very good. I have been going there for at least 15 years and have loved it each time. The Udon's are fantasitc and their sushi isn't bad either. Bowl House would be my choice. I've been to Sakura and give that a thumbs up as well.

            1. Hands down, Sushi Ai in Palatine on the corner of Quentin and Euclid. Very innovative sushi with spectacular atmosphere! It was voted one of the Daily Herald top ten restaurants last year, and is well deserved!!
