The NJ resident posting about things they miss about Chicago made me think about what I missed from NJ. I have found places to buy Tastykakes locally but have still never seen Taylor Ham. Has anyone seen this delicacy in any local shops? I am aware that I can order some online, but local would be nice.

As a native Jerseyman who has lived now in Chicago for some 14 years, I too have missed this noble pork product. To my knowledge, Taylor Ham is not to be found in Chicago (and, indeed, is not to be found even in parts of New York and Pennsylvania, not far from the source). For many years, I would import some myself when returning from a visit to the Old Country but now, of course, there is always the possibility of an internet solution to such problems. Here are two sites from which one apparently can order our beloved 'pork roll':

If anyone comes across Taylor Ham in a Chicago shop, please spread the word. It is a very tasty kind of sausage (I think there are actually two different producers of the Jersey style pork roll).

Ah, yes, as a former Jersey resident in my "yout",I have an addiction to Taylor ham. Who can forget a Taylor Ham & egg on a hard? Thanks for the web sites as I'll send in an order. By the way, I am also a part time resident of Ft.Myers, Fl. and the Publix grocery store does carry our beloved.Enjoy when you can!

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd add that the NYC Bagel Deli has pork roll - at least at their Loop location (not sure about the other location).
