I recently visited both New York and San Francisco, both of which have fast food style restaurants (Chop't in NYC, Pluto's in SF) that let you build your own salad (or pick one of their suggested combos of ingredients and dressing) with lots of fun options (i.e. more interesting than your average salad bar). I have yet to find any place like that in Chicago. Anyone know of one?

Short of that, any recommendations for healthy places that serve meat? (Geographic preferences to Wicker Park and Hyde Park.)

Thanks!

and Ma Kelly's are two fast food places that come to mind (locations mostly in the loop)

For a fast salad bar with alot of offerings, I like the little linoleum joint called Emerald, just north of Diversey on Clark. Alot of salad ingredients, a hot table, decent soups (not great), alot of middle-eastern sides (tabouli, hummus, etc. etc.). Emerald is one of those utilitarian destinations that make Lincoln Park such a fantastic chowish neighborhood.
