Hi guys,

I heard that the all you can eat hot pot place in Chinatown mall is closed, and converted into a hip bubble tea place... Is there another AYCE hot pot place in Chinatown that anyone can recommend? Hot pot sounds good in this weather that we're having.

Thanks!

Charlotte

  1. Virtually everyone up and down the mall has hot pot. Try Lao Sze Chuan. Spring World. The new dongbei Dragon King. I think also Mountain View etc etc. Yesterday, at Mandarin Kitchen (which also has hot pot) I was reading an old Cheap Eats review on the wall, where the reviewer tells his (Tribune) reader to pass on the hot pot bec "we prefer to have the chef cook for us". Have you heard of anything dumber? Hot pot is a whole culinary form, a whole way of eating, an entire culture! To judge a good hotpot, consider the quality of the raw materials presented, the way they are sliced and arranged etc (As I mentioned on the other thread, Dragon King offers chrysanthemum greens-tung hao-among their ingredients.)

      Thanks!

I thought Mountain View was the one that is no longer serving hot pot, but I could be wrong...

I agree with you... Hot POt is a DIY thing where you can determine how your food should be done. I have friends who do not understand why they pay good money to go to a restuarant and have to cook their food themselves. Needless to say, they are not fans of tabletop Korean BBQ...

Thanks, RST... I will check those places out tomorrow...

These types are quickly shuffled to the bottom of my "deck," as it were. ;)
