I'll let others deal with the true chowhound places in Lincoln Park, but here are a couple that even a chowhound can enjoy yet which all carry the seal of approval of my nine-year old who requires regular Children's visits.

John Barleycorn's pub - just south of the hospital at Lincoln/Belden.

Salt & Pepper Diner - about 2 (long) blocks north on Lincoln near Wrightwood (just past the tracks).

The Pasta Bowl on Clark just north of Fullerton (especially close to the Children's outpatient clinic on Clark/Belden). My son LOVES this place - the pastas are made fresh.

Emilio's tapas on Clark/Fullerton (not quite as good as the original in Hillside) is a personal favorite, but is not open for lunch.

A couple of pizza places - Bacino's just south on Lincoln, Ranalli's even further south on Lincoln, and did I recently see a Malnati's in that neighborhood - maybe at Wrightwood/Lincoln?

Also, isn't the burritos as big as your head place around there?

Enjoy!

Yes, there is a Lou Malnati's Pizzeria at Sheffield, Lincoln, & Wrightwood. They are only open for lunch on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays starting at 11. The rest of the week they open at 4pm.

I believe the 'burritos as big as your head' place is just a few blocks away. No idea what the name of it is, though.

The burrito joint you're referring to is called "La Bamba" if I'm not mistaken.

Personally in that area I'm more of a fan of the fajita place on Halsted just north of Fullerton. Sure, not terribly "authentic", but they will prepare the fajita fresh for you, they taste good, even the "junior" is quite a meal, and if you ask nicely they will give you Jalepenos with it.

(once they even made me a batch of fresh pico de goyo, but that's a bit rarer).

Not fancy, not complicated, but tasty.

Nicer option around the corner is Bourgeois Pig on Fullerton just east of Halsted. Great little two story coffeeshop/teashop with a large selection of sandwichs (or you can custom order one from their multitude of options).

(hope this is the area you meant)

I also have a 9-year old who's spent much time at Children's and my husband and I have eaten everything within a mile radius. We hold a special fondness for the Red Lion (English pub chow) across from the Biograph on Lincoln). I liked the Ploughman's lunch plate (salad, cheese, fruit and some kind of pate) and my husband liked the Shepherd's pie and pasties. The staff took great care of us. When they saw Hospital Visitors Pass stuck to our shirts they said they gave a discount to families staying at Childrens. Maybe we just looked so pathetic--they were wonderful to us.

We also walk a few blocks to the Athenian Room at Webster and Halsted for the Kalamata chicken and the wicked good Greek fries soaking up the oil and vinegar at the bottom of the plate. They get the food to the table fast.
