hey all,

I'm not up on beer trivia, but I saw an elderly couple putting salt in their Budweisers tonight...could you enlighten me.

Well, I figure anyone who willingly drinks budweiser must already have some knocks in their head. Maybe that was it.

Otherwise, I have no idea.

When I lived in San Antonio many people put salt into their beers. In hot climates people salt beer for water retention--I guess to slow the dehydration from drinking beer.

A little salt is pretty good in a cold pilsner/lager...try it.

This thread would likely get rolling on the General Topics board. Please continue on that board. We try really hard to keep this board about Chicago chow, specifically.

Thanks everyone.

Hi,

My Aunt is an RN who occasionally adds salt to her soda pop. She claims it helps settle her stomach like bicarbonate of soda a.k.a. baking soda.

I tried it once and didn't feel any relief, just the displeasure of drinking salted soda.

Best regards,
Cathy2
