Does anyone have any favorite places in Chicago for New England Clam Chowder? Ever since The Smiling Fish closed, I haven't found any decent chowder here.

Cape Cod Room at the Drake has excellent chowder . . . but maybe it isn't the best destination if all you want is a quick cup/bowl of chowder. But it is good!

I really like the chowder at Shaw's. I never eat in "Shaw's", rather, I eat in the Blue Crab Lounge.

That's a great suggestion - I'd forgotten about that one. It is quite good chowder and, in the Blue Crab Lounge, easy to just pop in and have a bowl and a beer or iced tea and be on your way.

And if you're really looking for a New England memory, the Blue Crab Lounge also offers the city's best lobster roll.
