serb fest in hobart?
the new issue of Saveur has a small story about these amazing sounding crepes (can't recall their name and am at work without the magazine) that are served as part of "Serb Fest" in Hobart, Indiana. (Along with cevapcicci, lamb on a spit and fried doughnuts . . .) I went on-line and it says the event will be August 2nd and 3rd but that's about it. I was wondering, has anyone been to this festival? Have any reviews/recommendations?
Thanks a bunch.

Hi!
You should also keep your eyes on Milwaukee, which has a large SErb population. While googling, I found a building at the Wisconsin State Fair grounds is referred to as 'Serb Hall.' There is also a well known Serb restaurant named 'Three Brothers' in south Milwaukee. I found there is an annual festival but I don't know this years dates (I found some in August and September in prior years) at:
Serbian Days
St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 3201 S. 51st St.
I am pretty sure I had the crepe you described. It is a crepe with rosehip jam spread on it, then rolled. I have had it as a breakfast and a snack at friends where the wife is Serb and the husband Croatian. I always thought of them as Yugoslavs (Southern Slavs) until the war.

Serb Hall (American Serb Memorial Hall) is a really great bowling alley/banquet facility on the south side that has been around in one form or another for many generations. (It has connections with the Serbian Orthodox Cathededral you mentioned.) Their only meal open to the public are the Friday fish-fry and, though it is the biggest and best of the Milwaukee classic fish-fries, it likely does not resemble Serbian food at all. For Serbian food in Milwaukee, your recommendation for Three Brothers is dead on.
I better stop now because I fear I will get booted to the Midwest board.
