Bought some Sea Salt from Trader Joes, got it home and open and found out it was slightly damp. I will admit this is the first time that I have purchased this type of salt, (color looked right) but the dampness has me a little nervous. Is this normal ?

Thanks !

Fai, from what I know of gourmet, course grind sea salts some seem to be packed damp. I know I read a lab testing article in Cook's Illustrated regarding which gourmet sea salt was the best but the particular issue escapes me. I know you could find it in the archives if you join thier web site. I consider them the Consumer Reports or Popular Mechanics of cooking. Check out a copy of the magazine if you never have. Great source of info about cooking technique.

Hi! I've recently been doing quite a bit of research on salts of the sea, the dampness of the salt only signifies it's freshness. Not to worry. If you want any recipes or more info on it let me know and I'll send you some.
