i'm embarrassed to say, i'm drawing a blank on a 'nice' place to go with an older woman friend wednesday for lunch. she lives in skokie so i suggested evanston. i know she like thai, i dont care, just a pleasant and quiet atmosphere. any suggestions, please?

I'm not sure puck's would be a quiet place since its in the century mall

also campagnola has a downstairs more casual and cheaper and a more pricey and good upstairs (this separation usually means upstairs is quiet)

I've eaten at the roxy, its a pleasant room, but the food isn't memorable

I have to say that i haven't been impressed by thai in evanston, though siam square does do a good chive dumpling and its a quiet spot

Another place to consider, just across the border into skokie is kabul house (there has been some discussion of this further down the board)

if you scan down the board a little a recent visitor asked a similar question. I've attached a link to that

Blue Sapphire is a hidden gem (!) of a Thai restaurant in Evanston. It's quiet and serene with thoughtful presentations. Service is lovely.

        Blue Sapphire
        1709 Benson Ave., Evanston

try Jilly's cafe on greenbay road in Evanston. very nice for a "ladies" lunch. Also, if you want to go up to Northfield, MK's recently opened up for a splurge lunch.
