Any good 24 hour restaurants?

  • f

Are there any good restaurants open 24 hours? I am sick of going to Omega in Park Ridge on Saturday night @ 3 AM. Looking for a new place.... Any Suggestions?

If your're near the gold coast, Tempo on Chestnut is a good choice. Nice omelettes, good sandwiches. Fun people watching. Michael Jordan comes in late sometimes. Bands, etc.

    2. If you are looking for someplace downtown, I would
definitely try IGGY'S. Although not a 24 hour place,
they serve until 5am on weekends and 3am on weekdays.
It's a great place to go to after a night on the town -
plenty of people gather there late night. The food is
decent, steaks, pasta's, tuna steak, a clear step above
the usual late night option of burrito places or
Denny's type places. The address is 700 N Milwaukee
      in the River West neighborhood.

      1. I guess it depends on what you mean by "good." My two favorite 24 hour places downtown are Tempo and Baba’s Place.

Tempo, mentioned by bryan, is sort of an upscale Chicago-Greek diner. Just last night I ate at Tempo and it was good, as usual. I had the Omni omelette, my friend had an open face beef sandwich. Michael Jordan wasn’t there, just a bunch of drunken idiots (myself included) with nothing better to do at 4am.

        1 E Chestnut St
        always open

Baba’s is a Pakistani cab driver place. Very basic surroundings but good, cheap food. Six bucks gets you a big plate of mutton biryani, chicken tikka, chana masala, frontier chicken or whatever is written on the board plus some excellent fresh naan. Small orders are $4. Strong milk tea is no longer included in the price but is worth getting.

        Baba's Place
        223 W Hubbard St
        always open

Several years ago Dennis O’Brien solicited suggestions in chi.eats and compiled a remarkable collection of 24 hour places. Take a look, the list is huge (link follows). The only problem is that the commentary is pretty minimal. Some of the places I wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy.

        1. There's a place called Jack's in Skokie (or maybe Niles), just west of the Edens Expressway on Touhy Ave. I don't know if I'd call it "good," but it's been there forever and has always been decent.

          1. Don't forget Tempo, right in the Gold Coast off of Rush. I believe it's on Pearson St.

They are open at least till the wee hours, and perhaps 24 hours. They're omlets are memorable, espeically at 3AM
