Heat VS Mirai

  • d

We are coming to Chicago soon and I have read about sushi at Heat here on this board and Mirai in Zagat. Both appear to be very good. We don't really have time to go to both, too many other great places in too short of a time. If I have to choose which one which one should I go to. I need your help here... Also can someone give me the address of Heat..

I cannot speak about Heat but the sushi at Mirai is remarkable. The unagi is easily the best I've ever had. The staff is knowledgeable and will readily recommend choices from what I've found to be some of the freshest, tastiest sushi in town. Now for the caveat, Mirai is a scene. It's very noisy and filled with hip and beautiful people. Alas it is also on the pricey side. So be forewarned. If you go, make a reservation.

      1. As noted in an earlier post, if you like that kind of thing, their (Miari) raw fish is the best i've ever had. Artfully presented, too. And the service was great. My friend and i are kind of easygoing, and i think the "attitude" is reserved for the egregious yuppsters who do, in fact, frequent the place.

i have to agree...many people complain about this so-called "attitude" at mirai, but i found the entire staff, from the hostess who took my coat to our busboy, to be entirely charming. there isn't as many maki and roll selections on the menu like at sai cafe or any other run of the mill sushi joint, but the menu is rounded out by a great daily specials card that warrants attention. try them!
