So, macdonald's opens a starbuck's knock-off. i was all ready to pooh-pooh it as i really hate mcdonalds and haven't eaten there since i was probably nine years old, but i heard they are brewing lavazza coffee!!!! i love lavazza...i prefer it to starbuck's and at home in my moka i make lavazza qualita' d'oro.
this is going to be a very bad thing if these mc cafes take off!!!

any thoughts?

  1. Why is it a bad thing if you like their coffee better?

I know what you mean. I just automatically think of McDonald's as evil. I did a head-snapping double-take when i realized that the new Starbuck's-clone thingie was them. I generally prefer to patronize the small, local coffee houses, but i guess i'll try McD's version just to see. After all, they have the "building power", and sometimes one finds one's self trapped in South Bend.

    2. I don't see it as any less evil than the epidemic of Starbucks littering the landscape. The coffee sucks, and it's way overpriced--not to mention horning in on local shops. It's all Darwinian development. It'll be interesting to see who's left standing. I could probably give points to McD's if the pricing's lower than SB.
