Gift certificate

I'm thinking of giving a birthday gift certificate in the $30-50 range to a guy who loves to cook and appreciates a really great restaurant experience. I recently read that the chefs from Mod and NoMi were voted best new chefs in a list of 10 by a Wine & Food magazine. So maybe a gift certificate to one of those restaurants? Or does someone have another idea?

Thanks,
His Mom

I concur, however, $30-$50 doesn't go very far at NoMI.

      Cheers,

p.s. I don't particularly enjoy Mod, but I know many people that do. It has received alot of critical acclaim.

Merci, Eric. That's the kind of info I was looking for.

I ate at NoMi last night and had a fabulous meal. Morel mushrooms are in seasoon and the chef featured them in several presentations, a risotto, with beef tenderloin, and with a great lobster dish. We also had the scallop salad and the sushi preparation. GREAT!

But the desserts are what really knocked our socks off. We enjoyed them more than Gale Gand's stuff at Tru. We had a creme caramel with dark choc. sorbet and a banana napolean with caramelized bananas and a pineapple sorbet.
