Go to Saussy: 1156 West Grand. A hidden, if a little pricey, treasure in an upcomin' (but still fairly deserted) neighborhood. Hey, Chicago, there was no one else there during our dinner Tuesday night, and the food was very good. Take your valentine.

Food is kind of like haute American. My friend had a quail salad. I had duck breast in chocolate sauce (!) with sauteed parsnips. I usually don't go for this kind of thing, but everything was great, the room is quiet and nice, and the owner, who served us, was just solicitous (sp?) enough, if you know what i mean. Oh yes, dessert was an "almond rocca" that i enjoyed way too much for my own good. As i think i noted earlier, the place was empty. They deserve some customers. Food's good, guys.
