By the way, had a great Japanese dinner last night at Sunshine on North Clark Street (about 5400N.)And i don't even like Japanese food all that much. Great appetizers--pickled burdock (they comped us on seconds cause my friend raved about it), fresh salty soybeans, pork dumplings, and miso soup--best version of this often too-salty dish i've had in Chicago. Supremely fresh fish. In this case salmon and oily but crunchy-tasty mackrel in a salt crust. Very friendly family/staff. Bring your own beer.

  1. I second that!! Sunshine is a hidden gem--and cheap, damn cheap. But be careful: they close early (9:00, I think).
