in the 6900 block(?) of n broadway tucked away on the west side of the street is a little bright lighted restaurant that specializes in the cooking of the owners' homeland-belize...
expect something of a cross between stews and spicier jamaican/caribean cooking with an emphasis on 2 things-it is homemade(best) and separately-there's mucho starch...
chicken stew or fish(i did not try but have heard it is tasty) was melt in your mouth...appetizers i am not too certain what to recommend...but skip them and save room for homemade sweet potatoe or bread pudding, so fresh that i was asked if i'd like to wait while ikt cooled off-from the oven- before serving/cutting...
no alcohol served or permitted, tho jamaican gonger beer is a flavorful accompanyment to this food...

this place is affordable such that trying a few different things is recommended..your wallet will not groan...and the neighborhood people are popping in and out all night..not just to see friends..but to take out this delicious home cooking...that says a lot as restauants from this area of the worldd, at least in my experience, are seldom patronized by natives..

oh-be forewarned, not everything on the menu is available each night..so ask what is..and be prepared for a nice treat from home(belize in winter is a lot nicer than snow.....)

  1. Is this place called Flower's Pot? It got three forks or stars from the Tribune. The reviewer mentioned that only about 25% of the menu is available on any given night but the food is great. I can't wait to try it.
