Vancouver - West End Recommendations

Frank Jan 17, 2006 05:58 AM

We will be staying at the Hotel Sylvia for 4 nights in late July/early August and are seeking some restaurant recommendations. We plan on dining at the Raincity Grill at least once, but our other nights are open. One night will be during the Celebration of Light so we will need at least one place that accepts reservations. We would enjoy seafood and/or ethnic and would prefer places within easy walking distance although we will have a car. Any and all help will be appreciated.

If you book now you might get a reservation on the patio at the Boathouse. Right across the street from the beach-great view of the fireworks. Make sure you don't make your reservation for too early a time in the evening.

Other than than there are lots of great places in walking distance. The Parkside, the Guu restaurants immediately come to mind.

I second that for Guu (block up robson street off of denman.

There is also Zakkushi on the corner of Denman and Robson (looks over the Dairy Queen Parking lot)It is a very fun restaurant - yakitori styles with a great selection of meat, salads, tofu and rice dishes.

Thai Coconut on Denman has both the most expensive and tastiest Pad Thai in the city, IMHO. Last I went (late December), it was $11.50 without any soup/spring roll/etc. accompaniment. It's not on the Lunch and Dinner Special menus, either.
