Vancouver Site for one-stop provisioning
I'm not familiar with Vancouver and hope to get recommendations on somewhere to provision for a 5-day condo stint at Whistler. Any good supermarkets or whatever on the way up? Will be staying downtown for one night before we go.
Also any ideas on where to buy wine? cheese?
You need to hit cheese mecca, otherwise known as Les Amis du Fromage. It's just across the Burrard Street bridge from the downtown core. Address is 1752 West 2nd Avenue (1/4 block east of Burrard) and website address is http://www.buycheese.com/
For wines downtown, there's a BC Liquor Store branch at 1120 Alberni Street, 1/4 block west of Thurlow. Marquis Wine Cellars is another option; it's located at 1034 Davie Street. Website address for Marquis is http://www.marquis-wines.com/page118.htm
You have a couple of options downtown for supermarkets that are more than just Safeway. In Yaletown, there's Urban Fare at 177 Davie Street (website address is http://www.urbanfare.com/home.htm) and Choices at 1202 Richards Street (website address is http://www.choices-market.com/yaletown.htm). And there's a Whole Foods on the way up to Whistler. It's located in West Vancouver, part of the Village at Park Royal Mall. Street address is 925 Main Street. Location map and store hours can be found at http://www.wholefoods.com/stores/west...
