So, we've read the press, but we're looking for the best. Traveling from San Francisco to Vancouver(seemingly a popular food migration) ...heard/read about West, Kirin (Richmond), Hapa Izakaya, Rodney's (for oysters), Shanghai Dumpling House (I think that's it--for XLB), C Restaurant (mixed reviews, but still curious). We have a few days, and looking to eat our way to nirvanna (or somewhere close). What do y'all recommend (or not)?

My vote will always be for West. Single best meal of my life a few weeks ago. Expensive, but worth every penny.

For Asain tapas (Japanese Izakaya style) skip Happa not good food - they have a nice restaurant, but the food is lacking, over priced and they serve rice that tastes and looks like minute rice.

Head across the street to Guu With Garlic. The restaurant is just as nice, the atmosphere is better and the food is 1000 times better, not to mention the price and the drink special. See link below for Guu's menu and other locations within the city.

I SECOND THAT FOR GUU. IT IS FAR BETTER THEN HAPPA. MY ADVICE IS GO EARLY THEY OPEN FOR DINNER AT 5:30, BUT THERE IS ALREADY A LINE BY THAT TIME. IF 5:30 IS TO EARLY THEN GO LATE, AFTER 8:00. IF THERE IS A WAIT IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!

TOP FAVORITES: CHICKEN KARAGE, GRILLED TUNA CHEEK, PUMPKIN KORROKE & GARLIC EDAMAME.

ENJOY!
