Don't see much on here that's about Winnipeg but I'm looking for any restaurant suggestions (regardless of price range) that are local/unique to Winnipeg...

I'm there for three days next week for work and am hoping to experience better food than I've had there in the past.

Oh dear! Seems like your previous experiences have not been too good. Shame, there is plenty in Winnipeg that is wonderful. Sorry, this may be a bit late for you. Try Cafe Carlo in Little Italy on Corydon (actually B-243 Lilac); Fude in Osborne Village @ 303-99 Osborne for very interesting menu, everything prepared fresh and nice folks; Mirlycourtois recently moved to Old Market Square, I think, for genuine French chef who runs his own place; and the piece de resistance is In Ferno's Bistro at 312 des Meurons in St. Boniface - exceptional and quite reasonably priced, packed tight any time we have been there.

I highly recommend Mise which is at 222 Osborne St ( at Confusion corner). Amazing food everytime I've been with a good focus on regional/seasonal cooking. Also very good: Step n'out on Provencher, Kum Koon Garden for Dim Sum, Enorae Bistro, Asahi and Wasabi for sushi, and La Fiesta on Ellice for excellent El Salvadorian food. Best of luck! Keep us posted.

I just went to La Fiesta last night (was in the 'Peg on business). What an excellent suggestion! I highly recommend the food and the gentlemen (one of the owners) was super-friendly especially on what to eat. Portion size also perfect especially as I had a very light lunch.

Aloha from Kona Hawaii we visit Winnipeg every year and always find a treasure load of Cafes in Winnipeg. Try the Garwood Grill on Pembina hwy for a platter full of great home cooked food that will have you coming back often. Try the greek salad it is huge!!
Love all the ethic cafes, and the tasty buffets found everywhere and they are all well in our budget:} Enjoy winnipeg's beauty and food!
